A Long Week

This has been a long week.  Well, the weekend in particular, but the week before was pretty long, too.  On Friday morning I was getting ready to go to the eye doctor (annual diabetic eye exam) and just as we are about to go out the door, I notice what looks like blood running down the dog’s side.  I don’t see a wound, but it is under a cyst she has had for years and years, pretty much since she was a puppy.  Called the vet on the way to the doctor and they said not to worry unless it continued, swelled, or she got all hot.  I got done at the doctor’s pretty quick, so we ran home to check the dog and it had swelled quite a bit and she seemed to be having trouble walking.  Called the vet again before my husband and I had to run to another doctor’s appointment (both of us that time) and the vet said they would fit her in as soon as we could get her there.  Those doctor appointments weren’t as quick, but still faster than normal, we went home and I took the dog to the vet.  They checked her out, shaved around the area (looks beyond horrible), put some salve on it, gave us antibiotic pills as well as anti-inflammatory/pain pills.  A whole lot of money later, got the dog home, gave her the first pills and ran to do the errands that were essential.  Got home and the dog is so drowsy she can’t get up much and the swelling is increasing.  This weekend has been devoted to taking care of her.  Well, then my insulin pump died on Saturday morning, so I had to figure out if I had enough syringes to get through until I can get a replacement pump on Monday mid-morning, as well as figure out how often and how much insulin to take as all I have is quick acting insulin.  Had problems on Saturday, but today (Sunday) has been better.  Whew!  I did, however, get a couple of cards made, though not as many as I needed to this week.  Yes, I’ve gotten behind.  Well, here’s what I did.  Take into mind I was pretty stressed and part of the time my blood sugar levels were WAY off.

 

This one was made for the weekly member challenge on CardSwap.  The challenge was to use scraps.  The pumpkin die was received in a swap, so I don’t know where it came from, but I’ve had it for a while.  Isn’t it cute!  The gold, open-weave ribbon was already cut from something I was working on last week (Celebrate It – Holiday Noel).  (The adhesive doesn’t show up in real life, not sure why it looks so bad in the picture.  The sentiment is from the Gina K. Stamps set “Smile”, which I embossed with gold (??) on a piece of brown that was in my scraps pile.  I did cut it down a bit more.  The light yellow base was already cut, too.  Those are both Recollections papers.  I am also using this in one of the challenges on MFP Speedy TV that was a friend-card challenge.

 

This one was a lot of fun and is going to be entered into two challenges, too.  One of them was an inspiration challenge at StampTV, the other was a Faux Patina challenge at MFP Speedy TV.  This used the Cuttlebug embossing folder “Spots and Dots”; Broken China, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Ranger distress inks; Spellbinder Ribbon Tag Trio Two; Memento Bahama Blue ink; Celebrate It – Sheer Creations ribbon; Gina K. Stamps “Gleefully Yours”; gold embossing powder; and gray, brown, white and blue Recollections papers.

 

This one should have been simple, but I was working on it Saturday afternoon when my blood sugar level dropped to 28, so I couldn’t finish it until today.  It is being entered in an MFP Speedy TV challenge to make a garden card with no flowers (I went with bugs), as well as a Stamp TV challenge to CASE Tami Mayberry.  It was made using Sage Green and Forest Green papers from Lasting Impressions, as well as 5 of their tiny bug stencils, then scuffing the paper with one of their scuffers.  The sentiment is from the Gina K. Stamps “Smile” set, stamped with Cottage Ivy and Bamboo Leaves Memento ink.  I put the Cottage Ivy ink on the stamp and thought it would be too dark, so lightly tapped the Bamboo Leaves over it.

Whew!  Now, the whole week was spent getting used to new glasses, which have progressive lenses.  YIKES!  I am still working on being able to see things and especially to read.  If there are any mistakes, we’re blaming it on the glasses.  Not, on my getting older and needing reading glasses, now.
