Playing with Styles

I’ve been playing with different styles and techniques, lately.  Well, not too different as I know what I like, but I do like to try things at least once.

This one is a “Fall” card where I used different shades of yellow with a touch of green and rich red.  It was done for a Fall-Friend challenge on StampTV as well as a Bingo challenge on MFPSpeedyTV.  The way a Bingo/Tic-Tac-Toe challenge works is that a 3×3 grid with different things is done up and you find three in a row that you include in your project.  For this one, I used a diagonal of Flowers, Ribbon and 3 Punches.

Supplies:

  • Various Verses Stamp set (Gina K.)
  • Cantaloupe, Rhubarb Stalk, Bamboo Leaves ink (Memento)
  • Adornments (EK Success) – green fiber tied through button
  • Sheer ribbon (Celebrate It 360)
  • Ribbon Tag Trio Two (Spellbinders)
  • Flower Layers #3 (Sizzix) – I used two different sections
  • Ivory Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight (Gina K.)
  • Paper (??)

This next one was done for a challenge on StampTV to use one of the wood grain techniques.  I went with putting score lines in every 1/2″ and then some at varying places to look like slats of wood.  The paper is blue, with white ink pulled across it to imitate painted cabinets.  I’ve never found a really good white ink, so this might have turned out better with a different ink.

Supplies:

  • Holiday Basket Stamp set (Gina K.) – got this for my birthday from my amazing husband
  • White Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight (Gina K.)
  • Ocean Mist, Tan Leather and Lovely Lavender Pure Luxury Layering Weight (Gina K.)
  • Rich Cocoa and Grape ink (Memento)
  • Glaze Pens (Sakura)
  • Ribbon (Celebrate It Sheer Creations)
  • 3D mounting tape (Scotch)
  • Brads and Button (??)

I used Glaze Pens to add a bit of shine and depth to the flowers.  I also stamped the image twice and cut out part of the center piece of the end flowers and used some 3D tape to mount them and give a bit more depth to the flowers.

It really is fun to try some of the challenges out there and find out if there are other techniques, supplies or ways of doing things that you might enjoy.  When I started making cards as a kid, I never thought of stamping and didn’t actually try it until a few years ago, now I rarely make a card without some sort of stamping involved.  There are an awful lot of supplies that I now have and use in card making that I never would have considered 10 years ago.

Thanks for spending some time with me today!
