Fall Is In The Air

Hard to believe it, but it really is Fall.  Yikes!  That means it’s getting close to Christmas and I haven’t even started my Christmas cards.  Well, I did do an Autumn card for a friend of mine that had surgery on Thursday.

9-20-13 STV MFP Embossed Autumn

Supplies:

  • Ivory and brown card stock
  • Spellbinders’ M-Bossabilities Flora folder
  • Gina K. Holiday Basket (flowers) and Beyond Baskets (wheelbarrow & sentiment)
  • Antique Gold embossing powder
  • Tim Holts: Distress Markers, Distress ink in Antique Linen and Peeled Paint
  • Koh-i-Noor Colour Pencils
  • Scotch: Advanced Tape Glider & 3D Mounting Tape
  • Sponge Dauber
  • Cutterbee Scissors

First I cut my card stock and scored the base.  The base is 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″.  The dark brown card is 5-1/2″ x 4″.  The leaf embossed panel is 5″ x 3-3/4″.  After I embossed the ivory panel with the leaves, I used a sponge dauber and the distress inks to highlight the leaves and flowers.  On a separate piece of ivory card, I heat embossed the wheelbarrow, the sentiment and the flowers.  After the embossing had cooled, I colored the parts using the distress markers, then fussy cut everything out.  The layers were put together using the tape glider, but the flowers I put into the wheelbarrow using 3D mounting tape to give it some depth and definition.

This card is for the Simple Salutations challenge this week at MFP SpeedyTV.  It is also being entered in a challenge at StampTV.  Mainly, it’s just to encourage my friend.

This next project are actually 2 Christmas tags.  There is a challenge at ScrapZee.com this week to try this fold technique.  I didn’t have too many double sided papers, and as it makes a Christmas tree, this was the closest I could find that would work.  Now, I’d like to enter this in the MFP SpeedyTV Sketch with a Twist challenge this week, but the twist was to do a Halloween theme and I don’t do that holiday.  So, if it will be accepted with a Christmas theme, I’ll enter it there.  If not, that’s okay, as I choose not to celebrate that holiday.

9-21-13 SZ MFP Tree Tags

As the fold uses 1/2 of a circle, I made two.

Supplies:

  • White Card
  • Dot ribbon (?)
  • Cutterbee Scissors
  • Gina K. Seasonal Labels
  • Memento Bahama Blue ink
  • Raspberry Road Designs Luxury Paper Collection
  • Spellbinders Scalloped Circles – largest
  • Provo Craft Cuttlebug machine
  • Scotch 3D Mounting Tape and Advanced Tape Glider
  • W.R. Memory Keepers Corner Chomper – Deco
  • Lion Brand Yarn Fun Fur

I cut the white card to 5″ x 3-1/2″, then used the corner chomper on the corners.  The scalloped circle was cut out, then cut in 1/2.  It was then folded (the instructions came from Split Coast Stampers). I used 3D mounting tape in very small pieces at the fold edges to give it some depth, then it was adhered with the tape glider to the card, as was the ribbon.  Before adhering the tree, I stamped the sentiment on the tag.  Then used a hole punch in the center top and attached the fun fur.  I like to attach hanging thread/ribbon/yarn by folding in half and pushing the folded part through the hole until I have a loop at the top, then pushing the two ends from the back through the loop and snugging it at the top.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today!
