Girly Cards

Did a couple of very girly cards today, which isn’t generally my style, but thought they turned out fairly well.

 

Had a lot of fun with this one.  The StampTV challenge this week is to make a Shabby Chic card with the inside decorated and a matching envelope.  Whew!  Wasn’t sure that one was going to happen.  However, when I saw the MFP SpeedyTV Sketch With A Twist challenge this week, I knew what to do.  A friend of mine sent me some Graphic45 paper last week and I found the flowered paper in there, which I thought would be perfect for the challenge.  To make it a little “shabby”, I embossed it with an all over chain link fence pattern, then sanded it a bit.  The images on the envelope and the card, as well as the sentiment all come from the Vintage Chic set (Gina K.).  I stamped everything with Sweet Plum (Memento) ink and stamped off the corner flowers first.  Now, the twist for the SWAT challenge was to use ribbon or twine.  I added the fun fur as it seemed pretty “Shabby Chic” to me and figured it was kind of a cross between twine and ribbon.  However, as I wasn’t sure others would think that, I tied a small bow around the leg of the dressing table using baker’s twine in the same purplish color.  Cutting that hole out of the center was not easy.

Now, the MFP SpeedyTV Friends of SpeedyTV challenge this week is to make a tent card.  That was interesting to figure out.  Had fun making it and I love how it turned out.  It really wasn’t as difficult as I thought it might be.  The card doesn’t actually open, it’s more of a sit on a shelf and look good kind of a thing where you can write on the back.

 

The papers I used are from the Garden Florals collection (Recollections).  It’s difficult to tell from the picture, but the branch with the bird goes across the center area and isn’t attached to the front or back.  Figuring out how to accomplish that was fun (literally).  I used the following Die-Namics from MFT for the pieces: Branch With Leaves, All Star, Contempo Cage.  The “window” and frame were made with Scalloped Circles (Spellbinders).  I used Bamboo Leaves ink (Memento) as it seemed to go well with the green of the papers.  The sentiment is from the Marks Finest Papers Heinrich Collection Winter Crocus 2011 set.  That set has a lot of fun sentiments.
