So, I have been watching the Online Card Classes new Simply Watercolor Christmas class. It is very basic information, but that may be because I’ve done most of what they’ve colored so far, before. Anyway, here’s what I’ve come up with using watercolor so far.

Day 1

These were what I made from Day 1. They really do look better in person.

Day 2

These were what I made from Day 2’s instructions. My masking fluid is a squeeze bottle, so painting things wasn’t too easy. So far, the most difficult part of making these water color cards is getting the watercolor paper to adhere to my backgrounds. I’ve tried tape runner, which works okay, as long as I’m adhering to a perfectly flat piece of card; liquid adhesive (glue), which works fairly decently, but still not great; and last, but not least, Multi Medium Matte, which is supposed to work with EVERYTHING. Ha! It did work better than any of the others on an embossed background, but still has areas that are popping up.

I had hoped to work on Days 3 and 4, but haven’t had time, yet. However, I did make time to make a rain card for the WeCraftCards challenge and it also fits the MFT Sketch Challenge for the week. The intent was to make a sympathy card, as I’ve been needing way too many recently, but decided I needed to make something cute, instead. This made me happy.

Singing In The Rain

The small panel is done all with colored pencils and a few touches of Sakura Stardust pens to add touches of sparkle to imitate the rain and raindrops.

Thank you for spending some of your valuable time with me today. Have a wonderful week!

  1. You are such an inspiration to continue to learn. Your creations are fabulous and look like you did have fun creating. Adhereing is always the problem child. Maybe in the class something will help with that.

  2. Your “rain card” is adorable! She is so cute stomping in the puddle and you colored her beautifully. LOVE it!! The cards you created for class came out great. I, too, am finding the class (in the first week) to be very basic (and a bit repetitive); trying to find the time to try a few more samples as I’ve only made one so far.

  3. I love your rain card and the little girl is every little girl taking on the world and stomping in that puddle! Love the coloring and your background. Enjoy your on line class. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I’m with the others – I think you did a great job on all of them but I especially like the little girl stomping in a puddle. I’m sure we’ve all done that at one point in our lives. Looks like water to me.

    1. Thanks Johanna. I remember walking the kids to school when they were young and trying to get them not to stomp in the puddles until the walk home. But then, to stomp to their hearts delight.
