The SimonSaysStampBlog Wednesday challenge this week is “Beautiful Blossoms”. Bird of Paradise aren’t what everyone thinks of with “blossoms”, but I think they are beautiful. I was able to get the Altenew Bird of Paradise set recently, so used it for this challenge.

Had a lot of fun creating this one. I was gifted some wonderful stencils from my friend Bonnie recently and used two of them on this. First I took some watercolor paper and used a few Ranger Distress Oxide inks (Kitsch Flamingo, Blueprint Sketch, Faded Jeans, and Salty Ocean) a bit of water and had some fun making the background. Used Nuvo Embellisment mousse (Cornflower Blue and Spring Green) through the first stencil Bonnie made for me using her Silhouette. Then I used some Art Extravagance Phoenix Effect Paste through a different stencil she made. I only went through parts of the stencils, as I just wanted some texture and shine here and there. Besides, I liked the background. The sentiment was from the Altenew Perennial Beauty set. Used some adhesive tape to attach the panel to my card base and some Ranger Multi Medium Matte glue to adhere the flowers. As they were going on top of textured areas, wanted to make sure they were securely attached. Used a lot of different colors of inks on the flowers and the sentiment. I will tell you, there are NINE layers to the Bird of Paradise flowers that I stamped. That was a LOT of work. I do, however, like how they turned out.
Thank you for spending some of your time with me today!
Ok, my mind is blown. Gorgeous on every level.

Thanks Lisa! Had a lot of fun with the background. Wound up with about 6 flowers, and know how to do a better layout of the layers for the next time I stamp some.

Gorgeous! 9 layers!! I am amazed. I would not have the patience for that many layers plus the work you put into the background. Beautiful!

Thanks Lisa. Had fun with the background and for the next time I use the stamp set, I have a much better plan for the layout of the layers – NOT using the Mini Misti.

Fabulous card and that background is quite stunning. I’m with you as I like Birds of Paradise flowers too. You did a wonderful job on the colouring and all those layers certainly paid off here.

Thanks Johanna. We have a Bird of Paradise plant in front of our house. My husband has wanted to get rid of it off and on for many years, but I love it.

Thanks Gerry. I was about at the end of my patience when doing it. Did get about 6 flowers stamped, then cleaned it all up and put it away.
