The MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge this week was a fun one. I decided to have fun on a spring theme. Granted, it doesn’t rain much in Phoenix, except generally at the end of July and early August, so not a spring thing. It did, however, rain a tiny bit this past weekend, which is spring-ish. Anyway, had fun making this one.

I colored the fun girl image with alcohol markers. It takes me forever, but I am trying and with practice, will improve. Had a lot of fun with the background, as well.
The image is from MFT and was designed by Birdie Brown: Rain or Shine. Used a raindrop stencil on a fun watercolor background. First I tried using clear gesso, hoping it would show up shiny. Nope, after it dried, you can feel where it is, but definitely can’t see it. So, then used a fun Nuvo spray through the stencil for those sparkly drops. Added some Nuvo Crystal drops to make a couple of raindrops in clear and a couple in blue. Embossed the blue panel with a wave embossing folder to give a bit more interest and texture. You can’t see much of it, but it’s there.
Also made sure there was green in this so I could enter it in the Simon Says Stamp Monday and Wednesday challenges, as well. It wasn’t difficult to make sure there was a bit of green.
Thanks for spending some of your valuable time with me today checking out what I made. Whatever you’re up to, enjoy it.
Super cute girl! I see the wave embossing in the background.

Thank you Gayle! The coloring took me quite a while, but I do like how it turned out. I intend to keep practicing, so I both improve in technique and speed.

Cute card. The raindrops turned out great. The little girl looks like she just about ready to start dancing in the rain.
