A friend found and shared a new challenge which is a monthly color challenge. Their February color is red. As I have a friend with a birthday the end of this week, who loves red, I made the following card for her per the challenge.

I know it looks like there is pink in the background, as well, but it was supposed to be red. So, I’m calling it a pale red. 😉 I took a Spellbinders class with Bibi Cameron last weekend and the kit for the class included a butterfly stamp set and die set that will be released on February 14. I know I’m sharing it early, but it’s a great set. There are other pieces that will be released as well that look amazing. I’m figuring this is good advertising for them.
The die in the background is from My Favorite Things and is called Graphic Roses. Unfortunately, it is no longer available. The butterflies are using the Spellbinders die set.
My husband doesn’t like the “messy look” of splatters and sprays, but I think they give a lot of character. I’m pretty sure my friend will enjoy her card.
Thank you for spending some of your valuable time with me today.
Beautiful card. I love the butterflies. I may have to get that set as a Valentine present for myself. I’m not usually a fan of spatters either, but it totally works here and makes a great background.

Thanks Judy. I didn’t used to be fond of splatters, but after I started trying it, it adds such a fun element. I thank Bonnie and her love of multi-media that encouraged me to try so many different things.

💗💗💗 this! Fabulous take on our mood board! Thanks for joining us this month! I look forward to seeing you again, soon. Cheers, Makira CO DT
PS. FWIW, our challenge does not require monochromatic entries, just that the dominant color is the color of the month. 😁

Thanks. I was going for all red and white as I thought it would be a striking color combo. The “pale red” actually gives it a fun look.

Love your butterfiles and your splatter background. It grounds the die cut background for your images in my opinion.

That spatter background is totally right for this design. Love it and I’m sure your friend will too. By the way, the pink you mentioned isn’t really pink, just a paler version of the reds.
