The Find

With all of that searching, I did find a lot of things I didn’t remember having.  Specifically, I found some fun papers I wanted to use.  The summer ones really stood out to me, so just had some fun with them.

I did find some paper that actually had paw prints on it.  Wound up using another piece that wasn’t just paw prints, with a coordinating piece and another Art Impressions Stamp set called:  Doggy Kisses Set.  This is a fabulous set for get well cards.  So here’s another entry for the Art Impressions Blog challenge.

As I already had all the MFT card out, as well as the twine, the Happy Balloons dies, and the BB Adorable Elephants set, I made another card for the MFT Color challenge, as well.

In real life, the glitter card behind this goes amazingly well with the orange colors in the challenge.  My husband did comment on how did the things stick to the “sand background”?  The adhesive works pretty well on the “glitter background”, as long as you don’t bend/flex it a lot.

Now, I found some other papers in the massive search that I thought were fun and I plan to use, but I had to finish the elephant card this morning before church as it was so late, last night.  The papers are out on my desk and I definitely plan to create with them.

The Search

So, a friend posted on FB about there being a challenge on the Art Impressions Blog to use an animal print on a card.  I looked through the stamps of theirs that I own and found the one I definitely wanted to use.  I wanted her to be wearing a zebra stripe dress and a leopard print jacket.  So, the search for paper with the prints began.  It took hours and I didn’t find a thing that was usable.  So, next step was to see if I had any stamps that would work to make my own paper.  I have a couple zebra stamps, but both were too small to work.  No leopards.  That took a really long time, too.  So, next idea was to find some images online and print them and use that.  Spent some time finding, printing, stamping, cutting, and coming to the conclusion that wouldn’t work, either.  A friend suggested tracing, so took some of the print outs, laid them on a light box, stamped my images, then used the fine point on a Spectrum Noir marker to trace.  It was too thick, but I just went with it.  Just getting to this point on the card took about 4-5 hours.  It’s not my favorite card, as my tracing isn’t as nice as I would have liked, but it’s definitely better than my trying to draw it freehand.  Here’s what I wound up with:

The Art Impressions stamp set I used is called: Fire Out Set.  Such a fun one.

While I was on the search, I also had in mind an idea for the MFT Color Challenge.  Found some paper that would work with the Wild Wisteria and Cement Gray colors in the challenge, so pulled out my card and found all 4 of the colors and used a die from the Concord and 9th Happy Balloon Die set, and the BB Adorable Elephants set.  Here’s what I came up with:

Had fun with this one.

It was a long search and I didn’t find what I was looking for, but still made a couple of cards.

Shake It

I knew what I wanted to do for the MFT Sketch challenge this week, pretty much when I saw it.  Had the whole thing planned out in my head, but that isn’t quite what I wound up making.  After I saw their color challenge, figured I could incorporate both into my shaker card.

7-14-19 Shaker

I knew there would be a slight edge around my card front, so took the time to ink each side in a different color (each one of the challenge colors.  The inside of the shaker is Pineapple Yellow (it’s more difficult to see in the picture than in real life).  I also used the yellow, orange, red, and bright blue as the colors of the sequins in my shakers.  It may not be exact, but I definitely had fun with this one, both with colors and the sketch.  The shaker part just makes it fun!

I actually used my Silhouette to cut the “bubbles” and their rings, though I could have used any of my circle cutters.  I cut the front panel, then “offset” it to get the “rings”.  I cut three of the rings in white, one in Blu Raspberry, and one in Pineapple.  I kept the inside of the Pineapple to make the bottoms of the shakers, too.  Used liquid adhesive to put them all together.  For the front of my shaker, I used some organza.  I like it as it allows the sequins to move around, without falling out.  The stamp set I used is the BB Adorable Elephants from MFT.  The ink for the sentiment is MFT Blu Raspberry.

Fun Color Combo

I don’t tend to use “gold” as I just don’t like the color very much.  (Yes, even with the name Golda.  Give me white gold or silver instead.)  Sometimes I’ll use hints of it in things, but not a bunch.  I was looking through my MFT paper stash and saw this pretty peach color paper, which I thought would work well with the kraft color.  Then, I found a sheet of gold glimmer.  Those went together so well, I just had to use them!  I wanted to use the Adorable Elephant stamp set, so wound up putting some gray in there, though I was thinking I should have just done a gold elephant, or yellow.  Didn’t think about it at the time.  Here’s what I came up with:

6-10-19 MFT Sketch

I’m using this for this week’s Sketch Challenge at MFT.  The gold embossing in the sentiment is slightly darker than the heart balloons, but really not as much as it looks like.  It’s funny how flash can catch in certain parts of a card, but not others.

Used some Tangerine Twist ink from GKD to edge the pieces.  I was afraid my sentiment piece would get lost without a bit of something to make it stand out.

Birthday Elephant

I haven’t gotten to craft much, lately, and I really want to, as well as need to.  There are a lot of birthdays coming up for March, April, and May that I have no cards for, yet.  So, getting in gear and starting.  Granted, I wound up not having much time to create, today, but hopefully I’ll get a few hours tomorrow afternoon.

Here’s what I made today:

2-23-19 Birthday Elephant

Not sure who this cutie is going to, but had fun making it.  Terrie at has a fun challenge this week to use paper piecing.  And MFT Stamps has a nice color challenge going right now, so thought I would work on both of them.  Found a couple different paper packs to get the correct (or pretty close) colors, that would work with my images.  Used the BB Adorable Elephants set from MFT stamps and had some fun.  Obviously, fussy cutting is not my forte, but it is useful.  (Not familiar with the term fussy cutting?  It just means using scissors to cut out around images.   I wasn’t fussy enough to leave the hair sticking up on the little elephant’s head.)

Hopefully I’ll be back soon with some more fun birthday cards.
