Pirate Card

Yes, I did another card today.  Well, at least I finished another one.  There are a few that were started, but things aren’t working quite right.  Those will just have to wait.

This one was kind of fun.  I decided I wanted to use the skull and crossbones (my son says it’s called the Jolly Roger and that is the symbol, not the flag), so figured it would be fun on black.  After I got it finished, I looked at it and thought it would have been great in glow-in-the-dark embossing powder, except that doesn’t show up very well on black and I definitely wanted the white on black.  Used a die to take out a corner of the black panel and stamp a pirate scene that would peek through.  Yep, I did the whole front, even though only a corner shows.

This is for the Simon Says Stamp: For The Boys challenge.  It is definitely a boy card.  I’m thinking of one that turns 18 soon.

Yes, I did accidentally overlap two of my Jolly Rogers.  It is a bit difficult to see clear ink on a black panel.  Didn’t figure it was enough to worry about.

Supplies:

  • MFT Party Like A Pirate
  • MFT Marble Background
  • MFT Drifts & Hills stencil
  • Ranger Distress Ink: Blueprint Sketch, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy
  • Black and White card
  • Black Ink
  • Prismacolor pencils: Tuscan Red 937, Dark Brown 946, Peach 939, True Blue 903, Crimson Red 924, Black 935, Light Cerulean Blue 904
  • Sakura Stardust Silver Star pen
  • Versamark ink and white embossing powder
  • Black Scrapbook Adhesive squares

This one was lots of fun to make.  Hopefully it brings a smile to your face.  Can I say, the best part about making this one was that the mail ran after I got started and I received a card from a friend using this same stamp set.  That made me smile and what she wrote brought tears to my eyes.  Snail mail is definitely the best!

Thanks for spending a bit more of your precious time with me today!

Just for Smiles

The weekly challenge at ScrapZee this week was to make Sunshine Mail, so the dress card from earlier and this next one will be sent in for that.  This was done following the MFP SpeedyTV Sketch With a Twist challenge this week.  The material is actually the bear.  I had hoped I had some fake fur, but, unfortunately, I did not, so he’s just regular material.

Supplies:

  • White Card (Georgia Pacific Image Plus)
  • Mango Card (Gina K.)
  • Stately Flowers 3 (Gina K.)
  • Spider Web Die-Namics (MFT Stamps)
  • Music (Spellbinders M-Bossabilities)
  • Ladybug ink (Memento)

Oh, the stack for the M-Bossabilities folders in the Cuttlebug is the A plate, the folder with the card in it, C plate and maybe one or two chipboard shims.  I goofed and tried it with 2 B plates and ruined one of them.

This is for a friend who is teaching my son and I ASL on Tuesday evenings, that was in a car accident on Thursday.  Inside will be something fun about the extremes she will go to in getting out of it.  Hopefully she will think it is funny.

Thanks for spending some time with me today.  Have a most wonderful week!
