Playing with Paper and Ink

Had some time today to actually create.  Can I just say, it was a very nice break.  Here’s what I created.

1-12-19 pete thanks

Pulled out my Gina K Wreath Builder Holiday set and just had some fun with snowflakes.

This next one is using the Wreath Builder, as well.  Used the Gina K stamp set More Massive Messages with it.  Using this one for the Gina K. Monthly Challenge.

1-12-19 stv birthday

This last one was fun with watercolors, some watercolor paper and the My Favorite Things Beautiful Bloom, as well as the Beautiful Blessings 2 set.  Entering this one in the MFT Card Challenges Sketch Challenge for the week.

Love how using vellum allows you to see what is behind, while shading it a bit.  The most difficult part about vellum is adhering it without the adhesive showing.  Used tiny drops of glue behind the sentiment, which doesn’t show, much.

Thank you for spending some of your valuable time with me, today.  As a friend and I were just discussing, creating things is fun, relaxing, and makes us happy.  Go create something of your own!

Sunday Cards

Took a bit of time, yesterday, to make a couple of cards.  Definitely had fun with them and I like how they turned out.

This first one is just sentiments, with no images.  You can’t tell from the picture, but there is shimmer and shine all over this card.  Used some Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in a couple different colors to add that shine.  It’s subtle, but there.  Used the Gina K. Designs stamp set Wealth of Wishes for this one.

1-6-19 stv sentiment

Now, this next one I did for 2 different MFT Stamp challenges, their sketch challenge for the week, as well as their birthday challenge.

1-6-19 mft sketch and bday

Used the MFT Safari Party stamp set.  The hats and bow at the top are from the Happy Hippos set, as I liked those party hats better than the one in the Safari Party set.

Thanks for spending some time with me today.  Have a wonderful week.

Thankful Card

12-30-18 MFT Color

My husband needed a Thank You card, so I used the MFT sketch and color challenges for this week.  He loved it, so hopefully the person he’s giving it to will, as well.  The silver washi tape is holographic.  My daughter got the washi tape for me for Christmas and I couldn’t wait to use it.

Used the following:

Can I just say, stamping and coloring means you can make your images whatever fun color you want.  Never imagined a teal sheep or llama?  They turned out really cute and perfect for the card.  Do things your own way when you create.

Thanks for spending some time with me today!

Sketchy Get Well Card

Designed this in my head at work this week.  It didn’t work out exactly as planned, but pretty close.  Definitely had fun with it.

12-29-18 MFT Sketch WCC

Used lots of different MFT Birdie Brown sets on this one: Magical Dragons, Ewe are the Best, Lucky Dog, Recipe for Happiness.  Can you tell I really like Birdie Brown images?

Had to have a sick dragon, a chef with some chicken soup, as well as a few friends to look on.  If  you’re not feeling well, I hope this makes you feel a bit better.

Thanks for spending some of your valuable time with me today!

This was a rough week.  However, took today to rest and actually made a card.  Yes, creating is restful.

Here’s what I made:

12-23-18 WCC MFT

Used lots of different shiny papers.  The silver almost looks like a mirror and came out of a box.  The sequins are out of a fun pack.  Used gold embossing powder to add even more shine.  The pink is a shimmer sheet, as well.

Shimmer and shine all over.  Hopefully some friend is going to enjoy this birthday card.

For this one I used the MFT Stamp sets Beary Special Birthday and Queen for the Day.  Using this for 3 different challenges, the We Craft Cards weekly challenge, the MFT sketch challenge and their new birthday challenge.  So much fun to play along.

Thanks for spending some time with me today!

Time to Relax

I have been crazy busy for 2 weeks with a huge house project.  Yes, I know, it’s just before Christmas, but this is when it could happen.  So, my house has been in chaos, which I don’t deal well with.  But, I got most of the stuff put away by last night, so I actually got to relax today.  My day of rest included making a couple of cards.  Because, that helps me relax.

So, I checked out what the card challenges for this week were for both My Favorite Things and We Craft Cards.  Here’s what I came up with:

12-16-18 MFT WCC

Now this works for the WCC challenge to add a bow.  It also works for the MFT sketch challenge for this week.  I used an MFT stamp set I received today, Beautiful Blessings 2.

Here’s a fun one I came up with for the MFT Color Challenge.

12-16-18 MTF Color Challenge

Had fun with my chameleon-like beast.

Thanks for spending some of your valuable time with me today!

Have a wonderful week and remember to take some time to relax in this hectic week.  Believe me, I understand hectic, I still have to finish cleaning up my house and get decorated for Christmas, as well as finish making my Christmas presents and start wrapping.  Yikes!  But, I enjoyed my day of rest.  And, I plan to go see the new Mary Poppins movie with my daughter, after work on Thursday.  Going to see Aquaman with my “beast” friend on Friday, too.

If I don’t see you beforehand, have a wonderful and merry Christmas.  I am so very glad that God chose to come here, grow up in a poor family, from the wrong area, to go through what so many people go through.  To help us to understand what He has been telling us from the beginning, how to have a relationship with Him.  Then to die in my place, in your place.  The fact that He came and went through all of this is why I have hope and a future.  I pray that each of you also have a relationship with Him and have that same hope and future.  Have a wonderful Christmas!

The card I did for this week’s MFT Sketch Challenge was designed for a friend.  You can barely see it, but the dark blue background panel has lions stamped all over it with Delicata Golden Glitz ink.  I wanted the lions, as they are one of the images we are given of God, “The Lion of Judah”.  Which goes well will the sentiment.  This Beautiful Blessings set from MFT just came out and is amazing.

11-20-18 MFT Sketch

As it is still dark out at 5am, I don’t have the sun to help highlight the lions.  You can see them as you tip the card in the light, however.

The card is done in blue, as that is the friend’s favorite color.  I actually started with the rectangular piece.  I used some Nuvo Embellisment Mousse on it in Cornflower Blue and Old Navy.  Then, I laidthe MFT Framework Stencil over it, making sure to make it square, and used some Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Pure Platinum over that.  After quickly washing my stencil and brushes, I was able to come back later and put everything together.

Sometimes I have 10-20 minutes between getting things done in the morning, playing with the dogs, and time to leave for work, so I’ll start a project.  While I’m at work, sometimes the design changes a bit, but solidifies, so I’m able to come back to it later and finish.  I knew what sentiment I wanted to use, but definitely wanted a background that went with it.  As I went through my stamps, the MFT Lions & Tigers stood out as “the one” to use.

The sentiment was stamped with Distress Ink in “faded jeans”.

Thank you for spending some time with me, today!

Sometimes, you need just the right card and you need it quickly.  That is a great time to use some of those left over pieces from a previous project and a sketch.  I used this past week’s MFT Sketch Challenge for this one, and some cute sheep I had from an earlier project where I cut out WAY too many sheep.  Good thing I saved them!

11-13-18 MFT Sketch

The person this card is for likes purple, so added some touches of purple to the sheep, gave them some sparkly purple hooves (who says sheep don’t do their “nails”), some washi tape that went with my lavender card, stamped a sentiment (added more sparkle) and it’s good to go.  Well, except for writing in it.

Thanks for spending some of your valuable time with me today!

Pinwheel Cards

We had a card making class at church, last night.  Three of us taught the class how to do 1 card and gave them tips and hints about things to do.  For my card, I wanted to show how they could make a card using what they can find around them, so I showed Pinwheel cards.  I also explained how I started using a ruler, pencil and scissors.

Here are the samples I showed:

10-19-18 Pinwheel Class Examples

Now, this next one isn’t an actual pinwheel.  Though the spinning leaf card isn’t traditional, either.  But, this one I did using My Favorite Things products for both their sketch challenge this week, which worked great as a pinwheel type example and their current color challenge.

10-19-18 MFT Sketch and Color

Definitely had fun creating the past few days.

Thank you for spending some of your precious time with me today!
