More Watercolor

Day 3 in the Simply Watercolor Christmas class was Simple Trees. Well, my masking fluid and I are having a fight. So, decided to do my small trees using clear embossing powder, then doing the background around them. I really liked the background idea from the class. I even painted my big tree with watercolor. I used a sparkling dark green for the tree. If the light hits it right, it shows up with gold hints.

Day 4 was Large Tree Card. I liked her tree, but wanted to do my own thing, so went with ice and a penguin.

You can’t see it in the picture, but I put some Wink of Stella on the white areas that were masked off. It highlights the areas a bit, too. The penguin was colored with colored pencils and a bit of Sakura Stardust pens to add some shine here and there, too.

Now, Day 5 was Plaid Patterns. YIKES! I wound up doing 2 watercolor plaids and one I did with spray acrylic paint. The first was done freehand and wound up with wiggly stripes. So, used some tape for the next 2 tries.

Used very similar colors in all 3, light blue, darker blue, turquoise, and purple. Here’s what I made with one of these pieces.

I had planned this out while at work, yesterday, but my idea didn’t quite work. So, went with a whale “holding” the balloons (I had wanted a flying bird). Used the MFT Sketch Challenge for this week as the layout. After I had gotten it all figured out, I checked the MFT blog again and found that the birthday challenge was using balloons. How fun! As there were balloons on it (out of the plaid), I used the MFT Friends with Fins set and their heart balloons dienamic and this will go in both challenges.

Hopefully I’ll have time to try out the rest of the classes. Maybe after I have the chance to go through them, and get those posted, as well.

Thanks for spending some of your valuable time with me today!
