Okay, there was a challenge on We Craft Cards this week to make a card using things that start with the same letter that your name starts with. Did you ever play that game, as a kid? I ALWAYS used gorilla. It just works for me. However, I did not have any gorilla images, so, made some golden giraffes.
As I was using this adorable “Playful Giraffes” set from MFT, I checked out their sketch challenge for this week and this works for that.
So, looked at Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge and it was monochromatic, so I figured a lot more yellow/gold worked, too.
Had fun inking up the background with one of my “honey” ink combinations. I used a piece of MFT Premiere Pineapple card for the giraffe piece and did a bit of inking on and around the giraffes to make them stand out, too.
As always, cards look much better in real life, where you can tip them to get the play of light on them, etc. But, I had fun with this one. Borrowed the adorable stamp set from a friend and told her I’m holding it hostage.
Thanks for spending some time with me today! Go have some fun.
So very busy this weekend, but took just a few minutes to create these. Okay, I took a few hours on Friday night at a friends house to start the bear card (there are more coming, just not completed).
Did this one as a thank you for a birthday present. The background is supposed to look like honey. I used Ranger Distress Inks in Tea Dye and Fossilized Amber for it. The brown “honeycomb” was fun. The rectangle panel was done using Premier Pineapple paper from MFT, as well as 2 MFT stamp sets: Birthday Bears and Beary Special Birthday. To color the bear, I used a couple of Nuvo Embellishment Mousses and a water brush. Yes, you can paint with them! Used a Sakura Stardust pen in gold for the bow. I also used a bit of black pearl paint for the nose and eyes.
The card is being entered in the MFT Stamps Sketch Challenge for this week. I really like the sketch, but haven’t had time to do more than this. I did follow the sketch pretty literally, though I love some of the entries that changed it up.
This little bag I made using my Silhouette. Love the cute little bag cut file and found some “autumn” papers to cut it out of. The leaves are from the Gina K Stitched leaves kit. This was quick and fun. Used a bit of string with a touch of gold in it for the bow.
This cute bag is being entered in the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge from last week about wrapping. This is definitely wrapping. It’s probably going to be wrapping for some chocolates.
Thanks for spending some of your precious time with me today! Have a great rest of the day.
Having some fun with summery images.
Summer colors, too.
I used colors from the current MFT Color Challenge and the MFT Sketch Challenge. Using this for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge, too.
MFT Polynesian Paradise is the stamp set I used for both of these.
Had a lot of fun with these. It took a while to figure out the “sketch” part of it, but used my main piece to put the pieces in place on the other card.
Thanks for spending some time with me today. I hope you got a smile out of these.
Just having some fun with bright colors. The papers I used were Doodlebug Designs and I just added a bit of ribbon to both, along with a stamped sentiment on the one.
If you want bright and fun papers, Doodlebug Designs is definitely a great way to go.
Now, here is the inside of a card with some coloring I did, yesterday.
This isn’t the greatest picture, but the parrot was colored using PrismaColor pencils, as was the flower. The flower is a bit blurry, but it really turned out pretty well. As the card is fairly dark, I laid down a layer of white, then added the color on top, smoothed it out and added 2 more colors, as well as some details. I then smoothed it out by rubbing a paper towel over it.
Even the closeup doesn’t look all that good, but it really does look pretty good in person. I have GOT to learn to take better pictures.
Look for colors that don’t necessarily seem to go together, but actually work together, as you go through your days. Figure out ways to put fun colors together in different ways.
Thanks for spending some time with me today.
My mother asked for a set of sheep cards for Mothers Day. We had to celebrate Mothers Day early, as my folks are going out of town, as is my Mother-in-Law. Hadn’t had time to make the cards for her present, though I did post the Mothers Day cards I made for them, last week. Anyway, figured I would do 3 different kinds, with 4 of each kind. This is the first set.
Had fun making these, so I’m entering them in a Simon Says Stamp weekly challenge, as well.
- Gina K Jellybean Green card for the bases and Layering Weight White for the squares
- Gina K Wreath Builder Set – 4″
- MFT Ewe Are the Best stamp set
- We-R-Memory-Keepers Crop-A-Die Corner Chomper – Deco
- PrismaColor pencils: 939 Peach, 912 Apple Green, 904 Light Cerulean Blue
- Washi tape
Stamped the sheep every other turn, then added the flowers between the sheep. Thought fun corners would be good, so did those, then figured it was just missing something. Found this fun washi tape in my collection, which had all the colors I used and so many more, so put that on.
And now, I have the first 4 cards done. To get 2 more sets done by Wednesday is going to be a challenge, but I’m going to give it a good try. If not, she’ll get them after they get back. There’s only so much I can do.
Thanks for spending some time with me today. I realize I’m posting a lot more than I have in a very long time, but having fun sharing what I’m doing. If there is anything in particular you would like to see, please let me know. Now, go enjoy your time.
Made a cute birthday card with a fun little stamp set from Simon Says Stamp today. Thought I’d share it.

- Sakura Starburst Pen in gold
- MFT Stamp Sets: Birthday Bears, Ewe Are the Best
- Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Peeled Paint
- Assorted Alcohol Inks

- Cloud dies
- October Afternoon Woodland Park Trim

- White shimmer sheet
I had made the background piece using different alcohol inks a while back. Not sure which ones I used, but made a bunch of different backgrounds that could be used for water or sky.
I embossed the unicorn on the white shimmer sheet using the Ranger Rose Gold embossing powder. That gave lots of sparkle to my unicorn, but definitely wanted to add some gold, so used a Sakura Stardust pen in gold to add touches to it. Used some scissors to cut that out. The clouds are out of scraps of the white shimmer sheet. I used dies for these clouds, though I often use free hand cut clouds.
I wanted a bit of the trim at the bottom, so I laid it out to figure out where to put the flower stamps. Then used some alcohol markers to color the flowers. After I attached The trim, I added some flower brads to add a few different flowers.
After that, I embossed the sentiment using some fun grape scented embossing powder. However, it didn’t emboss as well as I would have liked, so went over the missing areas with a purple pen.
Put the front panel on the blue card base. Popped up the unicorn and one of the clouds to add a bit of dimension, then adhered everything else.
I did put a white panel inside with another sentiment stamped in purple ink. Definitely had fun with this one.
Thanks for spending some time with me today. Have a great rest of your weekend.
