It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been able to get into the craft room to work on cards. I was trying to finish up an afghan I was working on for myself. Started it in November, but kept putting it down to work on things for others. Finished it last night. Yes!
Ran out of things to do at work today, so I came home a couple of hours early. As nice as that is, my husband works in the home office, which is also the craft room. So, got to craft some, but not as much as I would have liked. I did get this done:
Had a few ideas for last week’s, but only had enough time to do 2. I’m posting one here and I’ll post another in another post. A friend and I placed an order from MFT a couple of weeks ago and she ordered the Beautiful Bloom Card Kit. As the order was delivered to me, she let me pull it out and play. Love this one!
Used an alcohol ink piece I made a few weeks ago and just had some fun. The “beautiful” piece made with the die has Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen used on it, so it does sparkle, though you can’t see that in the picture.
I couldn’t resist the title. I actually had the privilege of coming up with a sketch for the Rotating Challenge at ScrapZee this week. I know, some of you will get this early by my putting it on here, but I had to share:
Basically it is a card (I used an A2 – 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″) with a triangle taking up just less than half of it (doesn’t matter where), with something large in the center and something small in one corner. Here are the examples I came up with:
As you can see, I did things differently on all of them. I stamped on the open area on two of them, which doesn’t add to or detract from the sketch, and used the large animal and smaller sentiment. You can’t see it too well, but the green triangles are embossed with leaves. The giraffe and the tree (elephant card) are done with gold Perfect Pearls, so they sparkle.
The aqua and white one was done for the Friends of SpeedyTV challenge this week, so I’ll give you a close up of that one. It is an inspiration challenge with an amazing picture, so I used the colors (as close as I could get) and crinkled my aqua to look like the curtains in the picture.
Go check out the challenges! Well, you’ll have to wait until Wednesday, 3/6/13, for the Sketch challenge, but you can see the other challenges we’ve had. Thanks for spending some time with me today!
The sentiment was offered through Word Art Wednesday. The ribbon is Celebrate It Holiday Noel Navidad. The plaid patterned paper and the black paper with the faint floral pattern is from DCWV the Natural Matstack. The Teabag folded star is made out of wrapping paper. The rhinestone in the center is ??? (I actually got it from my Secret Pal at CardSwap and I don’t know the maker.) The two stamps are from Penny Black, the mouse from Critter Party and the hedgehog from Bubbly. I used Perfect Pearls by Ranger in Heirloom Gold. I also used some of the Walnut Stain Distress ink by Ranger. The base card is 120lb Pure Luxury card stock by Gina K. I used two Spellbinders dies one is Labels One and the other is from Ribbon Tag Trio Two.
The strip along the side is what was cut off the piece for the front, which draws the front inside a bit. The sentiment is from the Hope Grows set illustrated by Theresa Momber at Gina K. It is stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento ink.
It’s a lot of stuff for a simple card, but it does convey my sympathies. Hopefully I won’t need it for a while. I think it actually looked better before I added the two animals on the black label section, but I needed those for one of the challenges. They do add a bit of cheer. You know I love making Kaleidoscope Origami or Teabag Fold embellishments and I thought the rhinestone went with the colors in the paper I used. Those colors are what brought in the other elements on the card. Something peaceful, yet with some bright decoration (the gold and brighter colors) to show a bit of hope or joy.
