Pretty as a Peacock

Well, it may not be as pretty as a peacock, but I love the fun colors together, which were inspired by the baby peacock costume picture in the MFP SpeedyTV Inspiration Challenge this week.

10-25-13 Peacock

  • Lotus Pendant Die (Spellbinders)
  • Grape Jelly and Teal Zeal ink (Memento)
  • Purple Rhinestone (?)
  • Bold Statements (MFT)

This was pretty quick and easy and has such fun colors.

Not Christmas Cards

Crud, it’s already November and I’ve barely begun to get any Christmas cards done.  Unfortunately, I did not make these Christmas cards, but I did have fun with them.

This first one was done for the MFP SpeedyTV Sketch With a Twist Challenge this week.  The twist was to include a tag.  Well, I also wanted to try telescoping, which took more room than intended, so I didn’t have a lot left for my tag at the end.  Got this paper last weekend (I’m not your typical pick up paper that appeals type, but I love the color – teal – and the butterflies) and really wanted to use it.

Supplies: papers (Recollection), ribbon (Celebrate It 360), tag (Lasting Impressions template), sentiment and flower image (Stately Flowers 4 – Gina K.), perfect pearls (Forever Green – Ranger), butterfly (?? – got from friend)

This second card was done for the MFP SpeedyTV Simple Salutations Challenge this week of using a cat.  I am NOT a cat lover, so I don’t have a lot of cat images.  The idea behind this was a cat peeking out with leaves flying everywhere.  We don’t actually have leaves that fall all over here, so I’m imagining.  The cat head was done with a Lasting Impressions stencil and highlighted with colored pencils.  The barrel is from the Stately Flowers 4 set (Gina K.).  The sentiment is from the Stenciled Spring set (Gina K.).  I used rich cocoa and rhubarb stalk inks (Memento) along with colored pencils (Koh-i-Noor).  The paper came in a magazine.  Now, on to the card . . .

Whew, I think that’s enough jabbering for me.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get any of my Christmas cards done, so I need to go figure some of those out before my in-laws arrive for dinner.

Teal for Fall

I love the color teal and think it is a perfect color for Fall.  So, when I was figuring out what I wanted to do for a sketch using some of My Favorite Things, I definitely wanted to use teal.  Now, My Favorite Things has some amazing products and I wish I could have them all.  However, life gets in the way, so I have a few.  The past couple of weeks have been a bit stressful around here, so I wanted to do something fun and hopefully bring a laugh to more than just me.  Here’s what I came up with:

To make this hilarious (I had to explain it to my son before he thought it was funny), teal card, I used papers from Cardmaker’s Creative Pack Citrus (Hot Off The Press), teal ribbon (Celebrate It 360), Teal Zeal ink (Memento), rhinestones (Darice), Banner Basics Two (Spellbinders), Clearly Sentimental About Audrey Hepburn (My Favorite Things), and Die-Namics Contempo Cage (My Favorite Things).

I have to tell you that My Favorite Things has an amazing die that would have cut out my center piece perfectly and quickly, but since I don’t have it, I spent quite a while trying to round the top of the piece and get it right.  They are having a new release on October 16 from 8-10 pm EST, which I am really looking forward to.  Go check out the amazing stamps and dies they offer.
