Exalted Easel

This is a fun one to make.

To start, I cut 3 pieces of card stock: 4-1/2″ x 9″, 4″ x 8″, 3-1/2″ x 7″.  I then folded those in half to make squares.  Next, I used 3 scalloped circle dies to cut those folded pieces.

Notice that I left a bit of the fold uncut so they will open.  After each was cut, I opened them up and scored the right side in half. So when I fold the whole thing closed, the fold is on top, in the center.  It needs to be folded towards the flat side.

I also used the same dies to cut a plain scalloped circle to decorate.  For my decoration, I cut scalloped circles one size down of patterned paper.  Afterwards, I put those plain scalloped circles together with their decoration and adhered them to the folded down part of the circles.  Then I adhered the small section halfway up the middle section, which was adhered halfway up the large section.

Here’s a side view, so you can see the way it works.

Added something to hold open the front section, adhered my “decorations” and it is ready to go.  Now, the finished product is 4-1/4″ wide at its widest, but it is 7″ long.  Therefore, it will need a larger envelope.  It was fun and my husband really likes the look of it.  However, there’s not much place to write unless you flip open each section.
