Red White and Blue

Happy 4th of July!  It is Independence Day for America, so I wanted to celebrate with some red, white and blue.

This was made using:

• Watermark Resist ink – Inkssentials – Ranger
• Broken China – Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Ranger
• Clear Embossing Powder – Martha Stewart
• White card stock – 120 lb Heavy Base Weight – Gina K. Stamps
• Red card stock – Recollections
• “Bubbles” – Kraft Edgers

Card base made with the 120 lb white card stock cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ (A2 size) and scored at 5-1/2″.  Red card stock cut to 4-1/2″ x 5-3/8″.  Lines were drawn on the back of the red piece at 1/8″ in on all sides.  The points of the design on the edgers were lined up with the drawn line and used on all sides.  This was flipped over so the lines are on the back rather than erasing them.  The small white piece is 3-3/4″ x 5″.

The sentiment and image were stamped on the small white piece using Watermark Resist ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder.  When cool, Broken China ink was rubbed all over the piece, especially in the center of the flower (so it would be darker there).  A paper towel was used to wipe over this piece after all the inking to clean off any ink still on the embossing.  This now looks like white embossing was done without having any white embossing powder.  This is a fun technique to use when you want the background to have either different colors of ink, a blend of inks, or different shading.

 

 

 

All of the pieces were then assembled.
